General information only

The content of this site is patient education. It describes what produces oily skin, how a skin type is told apart from a condition, and what treatment and a routine can and cannot change. It is not a diagnosis, it is not a treatment recommendation for any individual, and it does not create a doctor-patient relationship.

No substitute for examination

Why your own skin is oily depends on findings that can only be established by examining you: the distribution of the oil, the state of the surface, whether the greasy areas are inflamed, what your routine is doing, and whether the history justifies a test. Reading this site cannot substitute for that, and a plan made from a website alone is a plan made without information.

Results vary and are not guaranteed

Individual results differ, routine changes settle over weeks rather than days, and a prescription topical takes months to show its full effect. No clinician and no website can guarantee an outcome, and any statement that appears to promise one should be treated with suspicion wherever you encounter it. Sebum production is managed rather than switched off.

If something is wrong after treatment

If you have had treatment and develop rapidly increasing redness or swelling, blistering, a rash that spreads, severe pain, or fever, contact the treating team or seek emergency care immediately rather than waiting for a routine appointment. If a product you have been prescribed causes marked irritation, stop it and contact the prescriber rather than adjusting it yourself.
